The front lowering device brought to the track by Ducati sparked off a war between the manufacturers, so much so that it became one of the topics of discussion for the Grand Prix Commission. Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), Paul Duparc (FIM), Herve Poncharal (IRTA), Biense Bierma (MSMA), assisted by Jorge Viegas (FIM President), Carlos Ezpeleta (Dorna), Mike Trimby (IRTA) and Corrado Cecchinelli ( Director of Technology) all sat at the table to discuss the topic.
At the end of the meeting it was decided that starting from the 2023 season, the use of the front lowering device, which allows the motorcycle to be raised or lowered while it is in motion, will no longer be allowed. On the other hand, the holeshot device at the start is allowed. One of the issues at which the finger has been pointed is the increase in development costs, to which is added the high performance on the track in terms of speed.
it’s a bitter pill to swallow therefore for Ducati, which had invested a year of work in the development of this latest evo device to bring about an improvement in performance. The rumors of the last few hours spoke of an early rejection of the device, now it has been confirmed.
