A few months ago, Honda filed some papers for a certain ‘CL500’ that got the internet buzzing.
Now, Honda’s also filed for a CL300, with proof in a trademark application, filed by Honda in Thailand for rights to the “CL300″ name – and given the first beastie will be based on the popular Rebel 500, it’s only safe to say that the Rebel 300 will be taken for inspiration when it comes to the CL300’s engine and chassis.

“The ‘CL500’ trademark…filing matched up with patents filed back in 2019 that showed how the Rebel 500′s frame and engine could be adapted for an scrambler-style machine, specifically requiring some innovative engineering around the repositioned footpeg brackets and the rear brake master cylinder to suit the scrambler look,” states a report from CycleWorld.
These same rumors say that there is even potential for a smaller CL250, with the rebel moniker of the same name floating about Asia’s markets (essentially a Rebel 300 with a smaller engine).

Keep in mind, this last tidbit is nothing more than a rumor at the moment; however, the rumors of a CL250 could also push the CL300 into western markets, given that a bike for asia would likely drop the 50cc’s.
CycleWorld thinks it’s likely that these two machines will be hitting dealerships next year for the 2023 lineup. What do you think?
