Miguel Oliveira started the 2022 MotoGP season with a retirement at a time that showed he had a competitive pace as he approached Fabio Quartararo. However, the Portuguese crashed when he was in 11th position.
In a debrief and after the race, Alex Márquez even said that during a lap and a half he saw on Miguel Oliveira’s bike the existence of a strange smoke and smell. Confronted with what the Spaniard said to the journalists, Oliveira confirmed that Márquez had already spoken to him and that until the moment of his debrief nothing indicated the existence of a problem with his RC16.
‘We can’t confirm anything, everything seems to be fine with the bike. We didn’t see any traces of oil or any other liquid coming out of the engine. hey [Alex Márquez] commented to me in the press room that some kind of smoke came out of my motorcycle, but according to the data there is nothing that can confirm that’, Oliveira explained.
