There has been talk of Davide Brivio’s return to Suzuki in the paddock in the past few weeks. After the Italian manager had chosen to leave the MotoGP and go to the Formula 1 wearing the Alpine suit, his position remained vacant. Project Leader Shinichi Sahara took over as Team Manager for this year, but this double commitment is certainly a problemm. The managerial role, in fact, takes away from the time he could use to develop the bike, and a solution has to be found.
“The whole team has given me their support, but filling these two roles is a bit too much for me,” he admitted. “We’re defining a new structure for next year, and a new external team manager will arrive. I can’t say anything more for now, but we’re close to closing the deal.”
The question is whether the new team manager could be the old one, namely, Brivio.
But Sahara closed the discussion on this topic: “I’m a great friend of Davide’s. We talk often, even during the race weekends,” he explained. “First of all, I’d like him to be successful in Formula 1, and I hope to be able to work with him again in the future. He’ll always be welcome at Suzuki, but it won’t happen next year.”
