Reigning MotoGP champion Fabio Quartararo was determined to change teams on round six this year in early May, unhappy with the bike’s lack of progress in terms of top speed.
‘Before starting the season my goal was to stay at Yamaha. It seemed absurd to think about leaving after winning the title with them. But above all my first objective was to integrate the most competitive project’, the frenchman told Speedweek, confessing that he even thought about leaving Yamaha:
– In Jerez I was ready to leave Yamaha but then they put a project on the table that I liked. They’ve hired engineers who are working hard on the engine for next year and I’m very comfortable in the M1.
