Fabio Quartararo has been the only rider to be competitive on the Yamaha YZR-M1 since 2021. His Monster Energy Yamaha team-mate Franco Morbidelli has been unable to keep up, and even less so have the riders of the satellite WithU Yamaha RNF MotoGP team – Andrea Dovizioso and rookie Darryn Binder.
In a press conference, Yamaha team director Massimo Meregalli assured that he maintains full confidence in Morbidelli’s potential, with one of the focuses being to enable him to return to the level that saw him become runner-up in 2020:
– I said that right now Fabio is the only one who can really explore the good points of the Yamaha, but we are working hard to try to get Franco back to where he was in 2020. We know his capabilities and we will never give up until we achieve this goal.
