Sixteen-year-old Max Toth, who races an Aprilia RS 660 for Robem Engineering in the MotoAmerica Twins Cup Championship, came up just five millisecond short of victory in Sunday’s Aprilia Racing RS 660 Trofeo race at Autodromo Vallelunga in Campagnano di Roma, Italy.

The Californian started from the pole in the 12-lap race, and he was just pipped at the finish line by winner Francesco Mongiardo, who hails from Italy.

Meanwhile, three other MotoAmerica riders also traveled to Vallelunga, qualified in the top ten, and also finished in the top ten. Robem Engineering Aprilia teammates Teagg Hobbs and Ben Gloddy finished nose to tail, with the pair of New Hampshirites crossing the finish line in seventh and eighth, respectively.

2021 MotoAmerica Twins Cup Champion Kaleb De Keyrel, who is racing an Aprilia RS 660 in Twins Cup this year for Veloce Racing, finished 10th in today’s race.

Held in conjunction with the Italian CIV Championship, the Aprilia Racing RS 660 Trofeo is a spec racing class with all riders aboard identically prepared Aprilia RS 660 motorcycles.

Hobbs, Gloddy, and De Keyrel will be back in action when the MotoAmerica Twins Cup Championship resumes at VIRginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia, on April 20-22. Toth, who is also racing in Europe this season, is also planning to compete as a wildcard for Robem Engineering in some of the upcoming MotoAmerica Twins Cup rounds.
