The marriage between Honda and Repsol will last for another two years until 2022. Today the announcement of the renewal of the sponsorship in the MotoGP by the Spanish energy company arrived.
The collaboration began 26 years ago, in 1995, and was immediately rewarded with Mick Doohan’s victory at the first Eastern Creek GP and the title at the end of the season.
The Honda Repsol Team holds the record of 447 podiums in the premier class (500 and MotoGP) with riders of the caliber of Mick Doohan, Álex Crivillé, Valentino Rossi, Nicky Hayden, Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa, Marc Márquez and, more recently, Álex Marquez.
See the picture below for a summary of their successes.
Begoña Elices García, Executive Managing Director of Communications at Repsol, stated: “The renewal of this agreement with a partner as important to Repsol as Honda in MotoGP is proof of the strength of our alliance, especially in the current international climate caused by the coronavirus pandemic. For Repsol, the technology factor is key and this historic connection has enabled a lot of innovation and collaboration. Together we have achieved great sporting goals and also developed our products to top performance. Continuing this successful path, always in the service of society, drives us to improve day by day. ”
Yoshishige Nomura, HRC President, added: “It’s always a great feeling to extend our partnership with Repsol, this time for another two years. Together we achieved incredible success and formed a partnership that is unique in motorsport. Together we have and will continue to overcome all obstacles and difficulties that are presented to us. 2020 was a difficult year for the world, but together with Repsol we continued to work towards our goals. We are now looking forward to continuing this journey together and writing many more pages in the history of Grand Prix racing. ”
