The following is from N2 Racing…
N2 Racing is proud to announce that Blake Davis will be competing in the 2022 MotoAmerica Twins Cup aboard a N2 Racing Yamaha YZF-R7. Blake will join Kevin Olmedo, who will be racing a Yamaha YZF-R6 in Supersport. After two successful years in MotoAmerica Junior Cup competition, in which Davis finished 6th in the championship, the team, sponsors, and his family knew it was time for the next challenge in Blake’s career.
“It was rewarding to see the progress that Blake made while riding a Yamaha YZF-R3 in the Junior Cup this past season” said N2 Team Owner Kris Smith. “He collected championship points in 16 of his races and finished the season in 6th place overall and the top finishing YZF-R3. Blake’s progress gave our team the confidence to move him up to compete in the very competitive Twins Cup Class next season on a new Yamaha YZF-R7. The Twins class has come a long way in a short time, and I appreciate the support that Yamaha and bLU cRU will be providing to the competitors with both contingencies and a large bonus for the championship winners. I know Blake will be motivated to collect some of that and our whole N2 team will enjoy supporting him in his efforts.”
Blake Davis started racing motocross at age three and quickly transitioned to asphalt at age six. Blake has won several Supermoto championships with SMEC and VIR Supermoto. In 2016, Blake turned ten and was allowed to race full size motorcycles with WERA. In 2017, Blake achieved expert status and competed in 146 races with 87 podiums culminating in the 2017 WERA F2 National Championship on an RS125. In 2018 and 2019, Blake transitioned to a Yamaha YZF-R3 and Ninja 400 with multiple podiums, wins, and earned the AMA Youth Racer of the Year award and the Nicky Hayden Horizon Award. In 2020, Blake turned 14 and was allowed to turn his attention to professional road racing. Blake competed in seven MotoAmerica Junior Cup rounds with 12 Top Ten finishes and a best finish of 6th three times. In 2021 Blake joined N2 Racing full time on a Yamaha YZF-R3, finishing 6th in the 2021 Junior Cup Championship with a best finish of 4th. Blake is currently in the 9th grade and resides in Lynchburg, VA.
“I am really excited about the challenge of the bigger Twins Cup motorcycles and racing with a very experienced class of riders,” said Blake Davis. “The new Yamaha YZF-R7 is an awesome bike and I know that N2 Racing and Westby Racing are going to build a very competitive bike. This new class will be a challenge for sure, but with the combination of N2 Racing, Westby, and the new Yamaha YZF-R7, I know we can be up front in every race.”
N2 Racing motorcycles are prepared by BobbleHeadMoto with support from Westby Racing’s Chuck Giacchetto. Shiloh Salopek is the co-owner of BobbleHeadMoto and Crew Chief for N2 Racing. Shiloh will be managing the technical efforts for both Kevin Olmedo on a Yamaha YZF-R6 and Blake Davis on a Yamaha YZF-R7. The N2 Racing Team will start 2022 testing at the N2 Track Days event at Barber Motorsports Park on November 27 – 28.
“I am excited to be continuing into the second year of working together with Blake” said N2 Racing Crew Chief Shiloh Salopek. “The new Yamaha YZF-R7 is a fantastic motorcycle, and it will be a lot of fun to develop the new YZF-R7 into a weapon that Blake can win on. To be able to combine my passion for Yamaha and to have a rider such as Blake Davis makes me very excited to showcase both rider and machine capabilities. I look forward to what we will be able to accomplish together in 2022”
