Jack Miller joked that he tends to fall asleep trying to watch a Formula 1 race when he shrugged off the prospect of “doing a Valentino Rossi” and taking a lap in an F1 car.
Last week, MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi swapped places with six-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton as part of a sponsorship event organized by Monster Energy. In the highly acclaimed stunt, Rossi got behind the wheel of a 2017 Mercedes W08 while Hamilton drove the Yamaha M1.
It was a spectacle that didn’t excite Rossi’s MotoGP rival Miller. He admitted that the F1 didn’t “knock him down”, adding that he’d rather drift away than see it through to the end.
“That really doesn’t knock me out,” he told Motorsport-Total. “It’s certainly nice, but for me there are a lot of other things I want to do before I try an F1 car, like driving a rally car.”

“Do not get me wrong. If the opportunity arises tomorrow, I would of course say yes. But if I had to set priorities, I wouldn’t be at the top.
“It was a good race and I had a great time seeing it live. It was fun and I met great people [but] Usually my Sunday ritual is like this: I turn on the TV to watch the race, I fall asleep and wake up to see the end. “
Miller, who is supported by Red Bull, enjoyed his strongest MotoGP campaign to date in 2019, with a run to eighth overall and five podiums. He will ride a spec version of the Ducati GP20 as part of the Pramac Ducati team.
