After an exciting Aragon GP, the Repsol Honda Team is linked to Misano as the MotoGP World Championship moves into the final five races of 2021.
The Seaside Circuit of the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli has been an integral part of the World Cup calendar since 2007 after layout changes and was the venue for some gigantic battles, including Marc Marquez and Fabio Quartararo’s battle for victory in 2019. Over 4.2 kilometers in length the track offers a multitude of challenges for driver and machine – a narrow opening sector with slow corners opens up to a fast and flowing second half of the lap, the sequence of corners 11 to 13 an impressive sight on TV and in person.
Marc Marquez comes to the San Marino Grand Prix with additional fire after an unbelievable 23-round fight with Francesco Bagnaia for the victory in Aragon. The Repsol Honda Team rider has won three races out of his seven appearances in San Marino and only finished on the podium twice. For the # 93, Misano offers the chance in 2021 to confirm his feelings and those of the Aragon team and to build on their consistency after flashes of light were dampened by falls at the beginning of the year.
For Pol Espargaro, this final GP weekend is an opportunity to deepen his understanding of the Honda RC213V. A difficult Sunday in the hotter conditions on race day at Aragon once again confirmed that Espargaro still has a lot to do as temperatures rise and Misano’s predictions suggest that the # 44 will have the opportunity to improve its feel in these conditions . In 2020 Espargaro landed on the podium at Misano, a track where he has only finished outside the top ten once since entering the premier class in 2014.
The MotoGP field will also win this weekend Stefan Bradl, who will compete for a wildcard with the HRC Test Team on a fifth Honda RC213V.
