Jack Miller led again in fourth free practice for the MotoGP Americas GP, just as he did in FP3 this afternoon. The Ducati man thus occupies a position as a strong candidate for the top spots in the Austin lap.
The session started with Johann Zarco (Pramac / Ducati) leading 0.139 seconds ahead of Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha). Joan Mir was unlucky when he had an engine problem on his Suzuki on his first lap and lost valuable work time.
In the second rounds, Zarco and Quartararo improved to keep the top two positions in the same order. On his third timed lap, Oliveira briefly took second place before being overtaken by Quartararo, who was 45 thousandths behind Zarco.
With the French unbeaten at the top, positions behind them changed. Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) overtook Miller and finished third, while Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) took on Oliveira and finished fifth with the # 88.
In the second half of the session, Mir used his second bike and quickly moved to the top of the timesheet, dethroning Zarco by 0.195 seconds. There was another change in leadership less than five minutes before the checkered flag, as Mir had a lead of 0.152 seconds.
In this last stage the Ducati were strong and Francesco Bagnaia was third, 0.327 seconds back. Nothing at the top changed until the finish line, Miller led in front of me. Bagnaia finished third, Zarco and Quartararo rounded off the top 5.
