Joan Mir retired early from the Made in Italy and dell’Emilia-Romagna MotoGP GP after falling when he touched Danilo Petrucci (Tech3 KTM) while trying to overtake him on lap three. The incident meant they both had to withdraw, but there was no tension between them after what had happened.
Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar) told the press that his maneuver was not daring because the incident was due to the tire not being at the ideal temperature, which is why Petrucci did not resent him:
– When I passed Danilo, it wasn’t a crazy maneuver at all. It was just a left turn and at this temperature in the first few laps you have to be a little careful on the left. And when I changed direction I lost the front line, but it’s kind of a maneuver that I didn’t mean to meet you and I wasn’t crazy. That’s not why Danilo was angry. I’ve excused myself. These are the things that I don’t want to do.
