KTMs generally don’t look good at Misano, but Brad Binder thinks the post-qualifying results seem worse than they actually are and he’s confident that he will do better in Sunday’s race.
The South African was confronted with the manufacturer’s generally negative problems on the Italian circuit and reacted as follows: ‘To be honest, I think [KTM’s grid position] it’s worse than it really is. Honestly it’s not as bad as it looks on paper, I just think we have to keep working and find a little more in some places and a couple tenths here and there is a long way to go. We have to concentrate now and work hard with the guys tonight and wave at the warm up tomorrow.
However, Binder did not want to give a reason for the (lower) performance of KTM and named several factors without going into details:
– At the moment it looks like we’re a little off. There’s no point where we say, ‘Okay that’s the problem’, it’s a bit of a struggle all the way and maybe a bit of a struggle compared to Pecco, but like I said, I’m confident that it will be a lot worse looks like it actually is, and tomorrow is a different day. We sit back and go again.
Finally, number 33 made it clear that he believes in potential for more positive performance tomorrow: “There is no better or worse way to be honest. Of course, when someone is ahead and you’re behind you always catch something, but I think we’re all more or less at the same pace and like I said, I think things look worse than they are and I can definitely improve Achievement for tomorrow and if I do that, I think we’ll be fine ‘.
