News, The FIM CEV Repsol begins a new era as the FIM JuniorGP

A new era will begin for FIM CEV Repsol in 2022. The competition is in its 25th anniversary. the series is officially known as FIM JuniorGP, Recognition of its status as a the last step on the way to MotoGP and a globally important competition for young talent.

The FIM Moto3 Junior World Championship, the Hawkers European Talent Cup and the Moto2 European Championship, including the Superstock 600 category, retain their designations under the umbrella of the FIM JuniorGP.

For nearly a quarter of a century, the series has played a key role in recognizing and developing drivers who later ruled the world, including the eight-time world champion Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team), 2020 MotoGP Champion Joan me (Team Suzuki Ecstar) and freshly crowned Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP), France’s first premier class world champion. Over 80% of the riders in the Grand Prix paddock have completed the series on their Road to MotoGP and have risen to over 90% for the Moto3 starting grid.

2022 now marks a new era as the series becomes the FIM JuniorGP and consolidates its status as the last stepping stone for young riders on the way to MotoGP.

The European Talent Cup, the Moto2 European Championship including the Superstock 600 category and the FIM Moto3 Junior World Championship are all springboards for entry into the premier class. The FIM JuniorGP will continue to offer exciting races that make it possible to discover future stars, as was the case with Marc Marquez, Joan Mir, Fabio Quartararo and, most recently, Pedro Acosta, the 2021 FIM Moto3 Grand Prix World Champion.
