Michelin has decided to change the hard front tire available to drivers for the Austrian Grand Prix. The reason is what happened to Oliveira last Sunday when he was forced to give up after two pieces of the tread came off a tire of this type. In an interview with GPOne, Piero Taramasso, Michelin’s two-wheel race director, explained that the tire in question will be analyzed and the results communicated as soon as possible. He also told us that there were no problems with the tire structure.
In the meantime, As a precautionary measure and for safety reasons, it was decided to remove this tire from the options available to drivers and replace it with another hard tire. The difference between the two is that the one for the Styrian GP is constructed asymmetrically, while the one for the Austrian GP is constructed symmetrically.
