Jack Miller received a vote of confidence from Ducati MotoGP boss Gigi Dall’Igna in good time and described it as a “leader” who can take the necessary step to start the MotoGP World Championship in 2022 as a title contender.
The Australian had a positive but disappointing first season as a full Ducati factory rider in 2021. Miller scored two wins early in the season before being clearly outdone by his less experienced teammate Pecco Bagnaia.
While Bagnaia was highly praised by the Ducati bosses for his four wins and five pole positions in only his third MotoGP season, Miller, who made his debut in 2015, sees 2022 under pressure to perform.
After Jorge Martin and Enea Bastianini’s high-profile rookie efforts in 2021 on the Pramac and Avintia Ducatis satellites, Miller will likely need a strong start to the year to guarantee him a stay within the Ducati Corse setup.

Nonetheless, Dall’Igna is confident that Miller has the ability to take the extra step and face Bagnaia in a year when Ducati is expected to start as favorite for the title after the quick end of the 2021 season.
