The last two years MotoGP world champions Fabio Quartararo and Joan Mir collected their winners’ medals when the FIM Gala Awards returned in Monaco.
Quartararo, the 2021 world champion for Monster Energy Yamaha, was also supported by other world champions in Moto2 and Moto3, Remy Gardner and Pedro Acosta – both from the Red Bull KTM Ajo team.
Quartararo was the first rider from all three classes to secure his title at Misano when title rival Francesco Bagnaia crashed from the front with six laps to go.
For new MotoGP rookie Gardner, the event was a reminder of his incredible success when he narrowly beat teammate Raul Fernandez to the intermediate class title.

In Moto3, Acosta ended its rookie season with the World Championship in Portimao after LeOpard Racing’s Dennis Foggia was eliminated by new MotoGP rider Darryn Binder.
Other Grand Prix riders taking awards from the past two seasons included 2020 Moto2 champion Enea Bastianini, who this season was on the verge of winning the MotoGP rookie of the year honor while also taking Moto3 -Champion of 2020 Albert Arenas was present to receive his medal.

It wasn’t just MotoGP stars on stage as new WorldSBK Champion Toprak Razgatlioglu took his medal after winning his second Yamaha title – the first in 12 years.
Razgatlioglu also became the first premier class world champion from Turkey after beating six-time superbike champion Jonathan Rea.
As with Mir, Rea also collected his 2020 winners medal after beating Scott Redding for the title.
This was the first time since 2019 that the FIM awards have been given as the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in a cancellation 12 months ago.
The FIM Gala Awards will be the last official event of 2021 for both MotoGP and WorldSBK, as testing is next for MotoGP in early February at Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia.
