The Repsol Honda Team will return to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for the second time in 2021 to build on their first race and a fruitful test on the track.
Of all the tracks on the MotoGP World Championship 2021 calendar, only the Losail International Circuit in Qatar will have more on track action than Misano at the end of the season. With a full race weekend and two intense days of testing that have already been completed, this next Grand Prix will be quick from the start. However, early predictions predict significantly cooler conditions than the previous edition.
Austin race winner Marc Marquez returns to Italy not only after his second win in his comeback season, but also in the best shape of the year. Three straight top-five finishes, including a podium in Aragon and a win in Austin, demonstrate the improvements Marquez and the Honda RC213V have made since reuniting at Portimao earlier this year. A positive result earlier in Misano, a later fourth place in the race and a busy but productive test gave the eight-time world champion a good starting position for the 16th round.
Like his team-mate from the Repsol Honda Team, Pol Espargaro is keen to get back on track after a two-week absence and apply what he learned during the post-race test. Espargaro took a solid seventh place on his previous visit to Misano and is aiming for more after two productive days of testing on the Italian circuit. With tenth place in Austin, Espargaro has achieved eight top ten finishes so far in his debut season for the Repsol Honda Team.
As always, the weekend begins on Friday, October 22nd at 09:55 am local time with Free Practice 1. The Gran Premio dell’Emilia-Romagna begins on Sunday, October 24th at 2:00 pm and runs over 27 laps .
