MotoGP 2020 (Czech Grand Prix): The South African stole the show from him and KTM to claim his first MotoGP win in a remarkable race, with Morbidelli and Zarco completing the podium
The 2020 MotoGP season seems to be getting more and more unpredictable from every GP. In the incredible race at the Monster Energy Czech Republic Grand Prix, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing celebrated its first GP victory when Brad Binder stormed to an emotional first victory in only his third race in the premier class. This is the first time since Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) that a rookie has won MotoGP. Binder crossed the finish line with a lead of over five seconds over Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT), who took his first MotoGP podium with Johann Zarco (Esponsorama Racing), who followed in P3.
The 2020 MotoGP season seems to be getting more and more unpredictable as a result of the race. In the incredible race at the Monster Energy Czech Republic Grand Prix, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing celebrated a GP victory when Brad Binder stormed to his emotional first victory in only his third race in the premier class. This is the first time since Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) that a rookie has won MotoGP. Binder crossed the finish line with a lead of over five seconds over Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT), who clinched his first MotoGP podium with Johann Zarco (Esponsorama Racing) in P3.
When the lights went out, Fabio Quartararo led into the first corner, but was slightly off, so that Morbidelli passed and took the lead. Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) also got off to a good start from P4 to take P3 and then soon P2 at Turn 4, P6.
Binder cut through teammates Espargaro and his brother on the Aprilia with ease and soon right behind Quartararo. The championship leader was one second behind Morbidelli – a deficit that remained constant over the first few laps. Pol Espargaro finished lap 3 in lap 6 and had his teammate and Quartararo in his sights as the battle for P2 soon turned into two KTMs against Quartararo.
