Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak Edition: Everything You Need To Know
Just a few days ago, Ducati presented the latest iteration of the Multistrada V4 at the Ducati World Premiere 2022 – the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak Edition. This is no surprise considering that Ducati previously launched the Pikes Peak Edition of the Multistrada 1200. and Multistrada 1260. After Carlin Dunne’s fatal accident in 2019 on a Ducati Streetfighter V4 prototype, this motorcycle will of course not compete in this year’s Hill Climb. However, the company will continue the tradition of bringing a special model to market that can cope with the demanding hill climb in Colorado Springs.
The Bologna-based manufacturer says the paintwork of the top performing model in the ADV segment is inspired by the Desmosedici GP ’21, the Ducati MotoGP motorcycle. The Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak brings every quality of the V4 S to the extreme with a special driving position, 17-inch wheels with sports tires, single-sided swing arms, updated suspension and much more. What are the rest of the changes made to the Pikes Peak Edition versus the regular V4 S? Let’s find out!
draft
The Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak receives higher set footpegs that have been moved backwards by 10 mm to enable a more aggressive riding position. The handlebars on the bike are also lower and narrower than on the standard model. The new Multistrada also uses a lowered windshield to increase the sporty appeal of the Adventure Tourer.
engine
The Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak is powered by the 1,158 cm³ V4 Granturismo engine with 167 hp and a maximum torque of 125 Nm. The engine also enables faster gear changes and extremely aggressive downshifts with a more direct throttle response in high power mode.
chassis
The rims are now made of forged aluminum, which enables considerable weight savings (a total of 4 kg compared to the V4 S). The Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires offer extreme grip, while the braking tasks are taken over by the braking system of the Ducati Panigale V4 – 330mm front discs and Brembo Stylema monoblock calipers and a single 265mm rear disc with Brembo floating caliper.
Electronics and security
The new Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak has four driving modes – Race, Sport, Touring and Urban – which can be easily accessed via the handlebar control with joystick and the 6.5-inch TFT display.
The Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak also borrows the advanced package of the V4 S, such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, speakerphone, among other things. In terms of safety, the V4 Pikes Peak takes full advantage of cornering ABS, Ducati Wheelie Control, Ducati Traction Control, to name a few.
