Jorge Martín made a great entry into MotoGP this year and one of the biggest names in the category in recent years, retired Jorge Lorenzo, had a huge impact on # 89, he explained.
On the championship’s official website, the Pramac Racing rookie talked about how Lorenzo, who quit motorcycling in 2019 after a not so positive season at Honda, and how he helped him with advice: “I was in Lugano, with Jorge Lorenzo, before from the Austrian GP and I learned a lot. I’m changing my style, also thanks to him, who gave me a lot of advice.
In addition to the advice itself, Martín has also tried to change his driving style, as he explained:
– We changed a few things to be closer to his position because our style is similar when we are “off” the bike [i.e. body position when in corners], but of course he is a five-time world champion, was very strong and is one of the best in history. I’m better and that’s more important, and a small part is thanks to Jorge.
Lorenzo himself has already praised Martin in a few situations and even compared him to both himself and Casey Stoner: “He also reminds me of Casey Stoner because he can be very aggressive and brake very late and let the bike flow.” the corner and somehow it reminds me a bit of myself about the position on the bike in the middle of the corner.
