Press release | January 20, 2021
The 2021 MotoGP World Championship won’t start until March, but there is still a lot to experience before it starts.
This is a report from MotoGP …
It’s only a matter of time before the MotoGP season begins in Qatar. Losail is hosting the first official test of the season earlier this month, as well as the first round of the 2021 MotoGP World Championship in March. In a year when many are hoping for a return to normal, it is no different for fans of the sport who would rather return to their home countries sooner rather than later.
After a condensed 2020 year in which premier class races were limited to European destinations, this season is making a tentative return to global destinations in America, Asia and Australia. It also sees a multitude of names jumping between teams and classes, which only adds to the desire for racing as plans are already developing for the rest of the season.
Changes in the Yamaha garage make for an interesting read, there Fabio Quartararo makes the leap into the works team of Petronas SRT, with nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi go in the opposite direction. It could certainly be seen as a changing of the guard as Quartararo is certainly one of the favorites to fight for the title this season, given his three race wins from last year.
‘El Diablo’ seemed to be in complete control of the championship after winning the one-two at Jerez and a string of good performances until mid-season when he then experienced a severe loss of form that cost him his shot to fame as he finished 8th overall occupied. Last but not least, it will have proven to be a valuable learning experience for Quartararo as he prepares for another title incline in 2021.
2020 proved to be challenging for Rossi when “The Doctor” signed Covid-19, forcing him out of the Aragon doubles while an underperforming team only exacerbated his problems. The challenges lie ahead as he has to get used to working with a new team as he couldn’t bring all that he wanted with him Franco Morbidelliwho also took three wins last year and it will be interesting to see how the relationship between the two develops on and off the track.
Elsewhere in the Yamaha garage Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) is aiming for significant improvements after an inconsistent season. The number 12 showed great things especially in qualifying in 2020, but harvested less than one would have expected. Viñales often battles Quartararo to be the best of Yamaha and will certainly try to lead the Iwata factory to victory.
Bigger things are certainly expected from Esponsorama Racing this year as they have the recently crowned Moto2 World Champion Enea Bastianini strengthen their ranks. He is joined by another middle school graduate as Luca Marini is promoted by the Sky Racing Team VR46 in order to fill the places vacated by Johann Zarco and Tito Rabat together with his compatriot. With two of the most promising names in motorcycle racing, what can the Italian team produce in 2021?
The Moto2 star talks about his move to the premier class next season and how it will be the track with his brother Valentino Rossi. to share
The big question about the Suzuki Team Ecstar is whether they can repeat their fairy tale in 2020 after the departure of team manager Davide Brivio. It was an announcement that, according to project manager Shinici Sahara, came out of the blue and no replacement is planned yet, one wonders how that will affect the site. World Champion Joan Mir was a sign of consistency while claiming the crown Alex kidneys also had a year to remember when he secured 3rd place in the championship and both drivers will expect no less of themselves this year.
Danilo Petrucci Having already outlined his intentions when he starts Tech 3, the man from Terni wants to be the fastest man in the KTM garage. However, he will have to deal with factory drivers Brad Binder and Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) in this honor. In 2020, the Austrian manufacturer made great strides when, thanks to Binder, it achieved its first MotoGP Grand Prix victories in Brno and Oliveira in Austria and Portugal. Will we see a lot more of KTM on the podium this season?
Pol EspargaroThe decision to leave the RC-16 behind and join Repsol Honda is an exciting but challenging one as the Catalan prepares to ride alongside Marc Marquez as he continues his long quest to win the premier class. There is no lack of conviction and speed, but it will be interesting to see how Espargaro can adjust to the RC213V and the constant comparison with the super number 93 and prepare for the return after a season of injuries.
After a breakout year in which he secured consecutive podiums, it will be fascinating to see how it goes Alex Marquez develops under the direction of Lucio Cecchinelli, with Takaaki Nakagami Complete a dangerous looking Honda range.
The most unusual action is coming to an end, but the future does not promise to be any less exciting. Get ready for a very special New Year!
Jack Miller and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Team) are tasked with filling Andrea Dovizioso’s big football boots and will lead the Bologna Bullets to claim the championship title. Both have demonstrated their ability to combine it with podiums at the top during their time in MotoGP. Johann Zarco put in an impressive performance at the GP-19 last season, so when he gets his hands on the factory motorcycle in the Pramac Racing colors and possibly has a point to prove by making it for the factory, it will be a fascinating watch too Team was overlooked in favor of Bagnaia.
Join the French Jorge Martin, with the rookie rider looking to impress after an impressive Moto2 campaign while Aprilia Racing Team did Gresini Lorenzo Savadori an official driver joining Bradley Smith and the experienced Aleix Espargaro.
In a few weeks until the start of the season, you can certainly look forward to a lot in 2021.
