SBK, Youth Motorcycle Racing Series Mini Cup By Motul Series is growing for 2021

Based on the success of Motul’s MotoAmerica Mini Cup in its debut season, MotoAmerica, North America’s premier road racing series, has announced an additional round for the 2021 Championship, with the youngest racers ages six to 14 competing for class championships in four rounds.

The series is supposed to start at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, 11-13 June, two weeks later, round two followed at Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington, April 25-27. June. After a two-month break in action, the series continues with the third round at Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania, August 13-15, and the series ends with the first ever Mini Cup by Motul racing event Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, Jan. September.

All four rounds will be held in conjunction with the MotoAmerica HONOS Superbike Championship 2021.

“Motul’s MotoAmerica Mini Cup 2020 was a huge success in many ways – said MotoAmerica President Wayne Rainey – For starters, it brought a lot of young new racing drivers into our series and helped develop the older ones so that they can step up and compete in our Junior Cup championship. It It was also really cool to see families come to the races, with fathers and mothers and siblings all supporting the racer, or in some cases racers in the family. The race was great and it’s impossible not to be impressed with how well these young athletes do on the track. This class is important for the future. It all starts here and we believe that our future MotoAmerica stars will come out of the Mini Cup. “

For a second season in a row, the series will feature three racing classes: 110 cc (ages 6-10); 160cc (ages 8-14); and 190cc (ages 10-14). The bikes will be based on the specifications of the Ohvale GP-0 mini road racer.

A format change is also new for 2021. For starters, the Mini Cup by Motul racers now have the chance to race twice on each event weekend, which means that the championship now consists of eight main races in each class. There is still training on Friday; Practice and qualifying as well as two main runs are on the program on Saturday. The racing drivers in each class now fight twice a weekend instead of once for a championship.

“We are very excited to be back at MotoAmerica for the second season of the Mini Cup by Motul,” said Rise Moto co-founder Brandon Cretu. Last year has been a huge success with incredible participation and fantastic races and they are the future of our sport. We look forward to adding Barber as the last round on the schedule, which is fitting as they even have an Ohvale on display at the museum. The announcement of the 2021 schedule is just the tip of the iceberg for 2021 with many more exciting projects related to the Mini Cup and the Ohvale graduation, so stay tuned. “

Participation in this series requires a competition license for the 2021 season. Information on licensing and registration can be found HERE.
